| Review of Ramin in THE STAGE |
Reviewed by Mark Shenton. "Ramin Karimloo - born in Iran, brought up in Canada and currently appearing in London in Les Mis - also offered an eclectic programme, combining theatre songs like stirring versions of One Song, Glory from RENT and Elaborate Lives from AIDA with pop selections that included the Joni Mitchell standard Big Yellow Taxi. With his theatrical rock voice - not to mention pop star-worthy swarthy good looks - he has the sort of charisma to spare that reminded me of Broadway’s Adam Pascal, who first introduced the two contemporary theatre songs mentioned above. But Karimloo has an even stronger, better-trained voice and he is a real stage and cabaret natural, establishing a strong rapport with the audience straight away". |
